Excavations at Pella

Nice piece at Past Horizons on the excavations of the Bronze Age temple complex at Pella in Jordan (above). The first temple was build on the site in about 1900 BC. A massive temple with stone foundations was built at the site around 1600 BC, in the Syrian-Assyrian style (below).

Then after 1350 BC, when this area fell under Egyptian influence, the temple was redecorated with statues and cult vessels in the Egyptian style (below).
