The End of the Latest Archaeological Venture

Today was our last day at the little site that sprang up unexpectedly two weeks ago and has given me so much joy in the days since. We defined the interesting area of the site to everyone's satisfaction, and our clients figured out that they could avoid most of it by sacrificing four parking spaces. What is left of the site will become a little grassy area with a bench, facing the river.

So we dug the last two units.

Made our field bag catalog.

Filled in our holes, packed up our gear and moved on. It was a wonderful little project. Of course there is much more work to do, analyzing all that pottery and writing our report. But the digging is done, and it's back to the office for me.
