The Politics of Staying Home

Recent poll by PRRI for the Atlantic shows that whether people live in their home towns is a good predictor of how they will vote. Among white voters, Trump leads by 26 points among people who still live in the town or city where they grew up, while Hillary leads by 6 points among those who live more than two hours away.

Of course this is a bit of a cheat, because staying home is strongly correlated with conservatism, and leaving home with liberalism. But it is still striking to see the data this way.
